Valentine’s Day is not just about romantic love it is for everyone

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

It is not about gifts it is about connection

Families can celebrate together. For children in some countries Valentine’s Day is about making little cards for their school friends and celebrating with a special family dinner.

In this generation where everyone is so busy, many families struggle to connect. People are involved in so many activities in isolation from each other. Even children often engage in solo activities, children playing on the computer rather than connecting with family.

What better way to connect than a celebratory Valentines dinner together. It can be a simple meal, or even take away. The idea is to get together and spend quality time with each other.

From birth children need attention and touch. It is their first language.

“The dynamic of parent- infant interaction is the most important foundation upon which a child learns about self, and about trust and respect. It is this first relationship that influences the way relationtionships are perceived”

Touch Communication, The power of Infant Massage

By Elaine Fogel Schneider, Ph.D., C.I.I.M

Marilyn the founder of Tiny Touch Baby Massage says “Connection with our children is vital for growth and development “ Massage with babies and children is another way to connect and bond. She has helped hundreds of parents connect with their babies and older toddlers through the techniques of baby massage.

Marilyn’s Tips to truly connect this Valentine’s Day

Set aside time to get home early
Make or order dinner together
Ask the children (if old enough) to set the table, if not ask them to help you
Make it special including serviettes and candles
Make or buy a cake. Heart cakes can add that special touch.
Sit down together and enjoy!

REPOST OF LACTATION COOKIES

How to Make Lactation Cookies Oct
29
Recently some mum’s in my baby massage classes have been asking for the Lactation Cookie recipe so here it is!!

This is a great cookie to eat if you are a breastfeeding mother and need or want to increase your milk supply. This recipe contains some lactogenic foods (foods that increase milk production) such as oats, brewers yeast, and almonds. Enjoy!

As these cookies do help increase your supply if you have a good supply you can still make them (they are delicious) just leave out the brewers yeast, almonds and use less oats (more flour) Ingredients:

1 Cup butter
1 Cup brown sugar
1 Cup sugar
4 T water
2 T flaxseed meal
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 Cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 Cups of oats
1 Cup raisins
1/2 Cup slivered almonds
2 T brewers yeast
Method:

Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Mix 2 T of flaxseed meal and water, let it sit for 3-5 mins
Cream butter and sugar then add eggs
Stir flaxseed mix into butter mix and add vanilla
Beat until well blended
In a separate bowl combine all dry ingredients (except oats, raisins and almonds)
Add butter mixture to the dry mixture
Stir in the oats, raisins and almonds
Drop dough balls onto a baking tray with grease proof paper
Bake for 10-12 mins
If you are trying to increase your supply eat 4 cookies per day for good results. These cookies taste great and can be eaten by anyone especially hungry children and partners 🙂 who enjoy oatmeal cookies!

Enjoy!
